About the Chain Reaction

Nuclear physicist Leo Szilard invented the nuclear chain reaction, which eventually made the nuclear bomb possible – and he also founded our organization. For over 40 years, we’ve linked, as Szilard hoped, sound foreign policy experts, grassroots activists, congressional candidates, and sitting members of Congress – kind of like a chain reaction, if you will – to provide the “sweet voice of reason” on nuclear weapons and foreign policy on Capitol Hill. (And we’ve had some solid accomplishments that would make Szilard proud.)

On this blog you will find: updates and analysis on key Senate and House races across the country, opinions on the presidential campaigns, updates on national security legislation, analysis on the latest national security news and, of course, as many rants and raves as we – and hopefully you – can conjure up.

Comment on our stories, tell us what you want to hear about, debate and talk to other people who comment. Szilard’s goal was to found us, and our goal is to help continue and strengthen the movement for nuclear disarmament and progressive foreign policy – our own version of the chain reaction.

So, welcome – we hope to see you here often.
