Stop Karl Rove’s Attacks Now!
Jun 23, 2010 | Posted by livableworld

Karl Rove is back and just as intent as ever on using political dirty tricks to undermine progressive candidates running for Senate.  Rove’s new political action group, called American Crossroads, has just released a list of targeted Senate races which includes seven Council for a Livable World-endorsed candidates. Rove has pledged to spend over $50 million in these races on smear campaigns and deceitful attacks aimed at tearing down Democratic candidates.

Rove and his friends are targeting Lee Fisher of Ohio, Robin Carnahan of Missouri, Paul Hodes of New Hampshire, Joe Sestak of Pennsylvania, Michael Bennet of Colorado, Jack Conway Kentucky and Patty Murray of Washington.  These are all dedicated arms control supporters whose voices and leadership are needed in the Senate to keep nuclear non-proliferation at the top of the national agenda.

The group has already launched vicious ads accusing Senate leadership of “paying off” their Washington friends and relying on attack political gimmicks to win votes.  These television ads are just the beginning of their strategy to hire political manipulators to develop slanderous messages.

Council candidates have to fight back to avoid being buried by the Republican attack machine.

Donate today to help these seven candidates respond to Karl Rove!

American Crossroads promises to promote “strong national security” backed by high military budgets and expanded intervention abroad and accuses Democrats of “wishful thinking, ambivalence toward our allies, and accommodation toward our most hostile adversaries.” The group would return the United States to the dangerous unilateral policies of President George W. Bush.
